''Wally''

As a longtime resident of Sacramento, CA, Wally went to join our Lord at the age of 85 on December 10, 2005. He was born in Truckee, CA on December 3, 1920 to Jenny Donnelly Watkins and Grant Watkins and attended secondary schools in both Truckee and in Doris, California. He attended college in Kansas and served in the Army Air Corps in World War II. His employment history ranged from seasonal wild land firefighter, ranch hand, retail business owner, to his last position as an aerospace engineer for Aerojet General Corp. for 20 years. He was an active member in Tehama Lodge No. 3 Sacramento F&AM, Ben Ali Shrine, Sacramento Scottish Rite, E. Clampus Vitas, Sierra Club and a long time volunteer with the California State Parks and Recreation. Wally was a accomplished Northern and Central California historian and a award winning photographer. Wally was preceded in death by his loving spouse Ima Lee (Cole) Watkins and is survived by his brother Robert Watkins, children Michael, Patrick, Dashiell and Lucinda, five grandchildren and three great-grand children. Friends and family are welcome to attend a celebration of his life at a memorial service on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Sacramento Masonic Temple at 1123 J St. in Sacramento. Interment will be at a later date in Truckee, CA, at the Truckee Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Wally's name to the Shriners Children's Hospital, 2425 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95817.
